POP

Pop music is a genre of popular music created in the United States and United Kingdom during the 50s. The term is popular and includes many styles. "Pop" and "rock" were synonymous terms until the late 1960s, when they were increasingly used in opposition from each other.

Although pop music is seen as just the singles charts, it is not the sum of all chart music. Pop music often borrows elements from other styles such as urban, dance, rock, Latin, and country.

SPICE GIRLS

The Spice Girls were the first girl band world-wide known, so now we

are able to listen to quite a few good girlbands. They were created in a casting in London and, from the very first start, its first single called “Wannabe” gone viral, and every single teenage girl wanted to be one cxomponent of the band because they were so different to each other everyone could identify to one of them.

You may have heard from some of its members (Melanie Brown, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton) but, after their official break up in 2001 the most famous is Victoria because of her marriage with the footballer David Beckham and his work as a designer.

WHAM! & GEORGE MICHAEL

Wham! Was a British pop duo, created in 1981 by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. In the United States they were known as Wham! UK as there was another group with the same name. In 2008 Wham was chosen "The Best Boy Band of All Time", beating rival bands for the prestigious title.

The duet split in 1986, Michael won numerous music awards throughout his solo career. This was also known for its public image of "sex symbol". The first single to be released solo was "Careless Whisper."

  His most well-known songs are "I'm Your Man", "Everything She Wants", "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" and "Last Christmas". He died in 2016.

ROBBIE WILLIAMS

Robbie Williams known as "Robbie", began his musical career in the Take That group. Later in the mid-1990s, he slashed his solo career.

His first hit was "Angels", and his first album was "Life Thru A Lens". The second album that released "I've Been Expecting You" contained a song dedicated to the companions of its old group.

ADELE

Adele, is a famous British singer and songwriter. From a very young age, Adele was already interested in music.

In 2008 he released his first studio album, "19". In mid-2011 he released his second album, "21", with a worldwide success, as it was the best-selling album of the century in the UK.

She is also the first woman in history to put three singles in the top ten positions on the Billboard 100 music chart. After Amy Winehouse's death, Adele has a great place on the music charts.

On their second album is one of the best known songs, called "Someone like you".

ED SHEERAN

Ed Sheeran is a pop Singer from a small village in England. His interest in music started when he was so young, by singing in the church’s choir. Nowadays, he is one of the most famous singers internationally.

He is well known by singing just with a guitar and that shows he’s a real Singer and he doesn’t need any special effect to modify his voice.

Whenever he drops out new music, he has millions and millions of downloads. For example, on march 3rd 2017, he has reached the number 1 on almost every chart in a few hours time with his brand new CD “Divide”.

COLDPLAY

Coldplay is a pop and sometimes rock band which was fromed in London in 1996. They are world-wide known.

 They achieved worldwide fame with the release of the single "Yellow" in 2000. This was followed by their debut album Parachutes released the same year, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize.

The band has won 62 awards from 209 nominations throughout their career, including nine Brit Awards—winning Best British Group four times—five MTV Video Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards from 31 nominations.

KEANE

Keane are an English pop rock band from Battle, East Sussex, formed in 1995.

Keane achieved mainstream, international success with the release of their debut album, Hopes and Fears, in 2004. Topping the UK charts, the album won the 2005 Brit Award for Best British Album and was the second best-selling British album of 2004.

They started covering other artist’s songs and then, they decided to write their own songs.

JAMES BLUNT

James Blunt is a british Singer and writer of his own songs. He’s now 43 and, before becoming a Singer, he was a former officer of the British Army. He realased his first album in 2004 and it has sold over 11 million copies all over the world with singles on the top of the most important charts.

His musical style is pop, folk and rock-folk.

ONE DIRECTION

One Direction is one of the most successful pop bands, formed by Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik (until 2015) Liam Payneand and Harry Styles. Every song they release goes directly to number one in every chart. They were discovered in the famous contest “The X Factor” in 2010, when they were auditioning as solo artists. But then, one of the coaches told them they would be better as a group. Obviously, they accepted and they are together as a band since 2011, although they are currently having a period without making music since 2016 to 2018 because they want to have some free time for the first time in 6 years. In 2015, Zayn Malik left the band to start a solo career, and he is doing well at the moment.
